Meghan Markle shows off tiny baby bump during first official engagement in Sydney
NOW that Meghan doesn’t have to hide her pregnancy under purple folders or baggy coats, she proudly showed off her baby bump today.
THE Duchess of Sussex has given the world the first glimpse of her little baby bump during her first official engagement of the Australian royal tour.
Meghan wore a white figure-hugging dress from Australian designer Karen Gee at Admiralty House in Sydney’s Kirribilli this morning.
It’s unclear exactly how far along in her pregnancy Meghan is, but royal sources said she is “feeling well” and has had her 12-week scan.
Governor-General Peter Cosgrove and his wife Lady Cosgrove presented the Duke and Duchess with a pair of baby ugg boots, a stuffed kangaroo and a pair of Akubra hats.
Meghan and Harry held hands throughout a long photo call on the lawn overlooking Sydney Harbour, with the Prince protectively placing his hand on Meghan’s back.
The couple posed for photos with the Opera House and Harbour Bridge in the background.
Kensington Palace announced the royal pregnancy in a statement on Monday: “Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019.
“Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public.”
Spring in the UK will begin on March 20 and will run through until June 21.
Meghan has done well to hide her pregnancy from the world these past few months.
On arrival to Sydney airport yesterday she strategically held two purple folders in front of her stomach.
The Duchess wore an oversized blue Givenchy coat to Princess Eugenie’s wedding last week in an attempt to shield her bump from the cameras and not take the shine away from the bride and groom.
The new baby will be seventh in line for the throne and jumps ahead of other royals, including Prince Andrew and his daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.
