Ash Barty announces that she’s expecting a baby

Australian tennis legend Ash Barty has announced she’s expecting a baby in 2023 less than a year after retiring.

Australian tennis legend Ash Barty has announced she’s expecting a baby in 2023.

The three-time grand slam winner is expecting her first child with partner Garry Kissick, making the announcement on Instagram.

“2023 set to be the best year yet. We are so excited for our new adventure,” she wrote.

Ms Barty shared a photo of baby shoes next to her dog Origi who is set to be a “protective big sister”.

She shocked the tennis world by announcing her retirement last year after winning the Australian Open.

Friends, family and supporters were quick to congratulate the former-world number one.

She said her dog Origi is set to become a protective big sister.

“Congratulations Ash, so happy for you,” fellow tennis star Jelena Dokic commented.

“OMG BEST NEWS!! Cutest baby ever incoming!” comedian Tanya Hennessy said.

Tennis Australia, the Women’s Tennis Association and the Australian Olympic team were also among those to congratulate Ms Barty.
