Woman claims Kmart Christmas toy says iconic Aussie slang word

Kmart fans are losing their minds over a talking toy that people are convinced says an outrageous Aussie word.

Woman's wild claim about talking Kmart toy

A woman has made a wild claim about a talking Christmas toy she picked up from Kmart.

Nutrition coach Teneika Tanti took to social media to ask her followers if they had the same opinion about her latest purchase.

The Sydney content creator picked up a talking reindeer Christmas toy on a recent shop at her local Kmart, and was shocked at what happened next.

When pressing the toy’s tummy, it lets out an upbeat rap tune – but she was taken aback when it appeared to say the word “eshay”.

The slang term eshay has risen in popularity in recent years, and is typically used to describe young men from lower socio-economic suburbs, who are predisposed to acts of crime and violence, while often wearing sportswear.

The Australian word is akin to a person being described as a ‘chav’ in the UK.

“So this toy is from Kmart, I just need to confirm whether it says eshay or it doesn't’,” she said in the video, which is titled ‘is Kmart a lad?’.

“Please listen. Does it? I’m so lost. I swear it does.”

Teneika’s followers went wild after she posted the clip, with many agreeing that it sounded like the toy was saying “eshay”.

The video quickly went viral, racking up nearly 400,000 plays in a matter of hours.

“I heard eshay very clearly,” wrote one.

“It definitely says eshay, OMG,” said another.

“It is 100% an Aussie reindeer then,” a TikTok user said.

However, others believed it was simply saying “that’s right”.

“It says ‘that’s right’ clear as day,” wrote one.

“I can’t even hear eshay.”

“It says ‘that’s right’ but eshay would be hilarious,” said another user.

“I think it says ‘that’s right’, but it really does sound like eshay lol,” added another.

Earlier this year, another customer shared her concern after a sinister note was found inside a Kmart child’s toy.

The mother said she had purchased her son a toy from a Kmart in Penrith, Western Sydney, but it wasn’t until she got home that she found the grim discovery.

“You’re going to die in 10 days,” the note read.

The woman was upset at what she had found.

“Absolutely disgusting people do this – especially in kids toys,” she wrote on Facebook.

The mum added that her son was unable to read the note but she felt sick about the kids that may have found this and were able to read it.

She added that she was worried there were other messages hidden at the shop.

Other social media users were also disgusted by the note.

“What the hell? That’s disgusting. Seriously, what’s wrong with people today,” one person commented.
