TikTok mum shares ‘game-changing’ hack to get kids to sleep in under five minutes

It’s the nightly struggle that parents go through. But now one mum has shared a game-changing hack to get kids off to sleep.

If you’re not struggling to put your kids to bed each night – and struggling to keep them in bed – how do you even know you’re a parent?

It’s a nightly stress for many parents – but one TikTok mum reckons she’s found a “failsafe” solution, Kidspot reports.

TikTok mum Brittany Vasseur posted a helpful video showing her method, alongside the caption: “OMG this is game-changing!”

She then gave a special shout-out to fellow social media user @MacySapp for sharing the sleep hack.

The viral sleeping clip

In the clip, Brittany says: “One of the best mum hacks I have ever come across, truly life-changing. I saw this randomly on TikTok and it works.

“To make your child fall asleep faster, this is the process and what you need to do. I can’t believe it worked as well as it did.”

Brittany then demonstrates the two stages that have worked for settling her own little boy.

“The first thing you need to do is that you tell them, ‘You don’t need to go to sleep, just lay down with your eyes closed.’ So take the pressure off.

“Then you need to take a book, any book, and read it to them like this.”

Speaking in hushed, soothing tones, the mum reads the book in a voice only slightly louder than a whisper.

“So you sound ridiculous, but basically you read it to them in a very slow, soft, soothing voice and it kind of sends them into a hypnotic state.”

The mum says her son Carter, “had a hard time falling asleep” before she tried out the two-step routine.

“He falls right asleep – like within five minutes.”

Great sleeping hack

Viewers praised the hack and the low-key approach to bedtime.

“Bore the child to sleep. Noted,” one wrote. “You’re one of my favourite ladies. You’re an amazing mum!”

Another said: “When I was a kid my parents would always tell us you don’t have to go to sleep just lay down and we were always asleep instantly.”

A third wrote: “OMG I just did this tonight! She fell right asleep.”

Others were concerned that the hack would be so effective, that they themselves would be knocked out.

Another viral toddler sleep hack to try

Last year, another mum went viral with her toddler sleep hack – this time, because it was so unique.

In a TikTok video that’s gone viral, Taylor, shared how she uses a goose to keep her son from leaving his bedroom at night.

Step One: Place children in bedroom.

Step Two: Place plastic goose which toddler is terrified of, outside closed bedroom door.

Step Three: Set up a camera to capture the fear on the toddler’s face upon seeing the goose when he attempts to come out after being put to bed, and then watch him slam the door. Works like a charm.
