‘Disturbing’: New $13 Kmart toy divides parents

A new Kmart toy modelled on a very modern profession has split parents, with some excited to nab the item as others labelled it concerning.

It was only a matter of time until toys caught up with the changing times.

And haven’t they just, with Kmart recently releasing a wooden vlogger toy set.

The six-piece playset for $13 comes with a canvas backpack, mobile phone, camera, selfie stick, ring light and even a tripod.

“Little ones will love to pretend taking pictures, photos and making video with this wooden vlogger set,” the description reads.

However, while some parents can’t wait to get their hands on the set, others have labelled it “disturbing”.

Conversation began when Instagram user Kmart Bargains shared a snap of the new toy online, prompting parents and carers to inundate the post with comments.

Some couldn’t contain their excitement at the set.

“We need the vlogger set in child care,” one woman wrote, tagging her colleague.

“If you have a daughter, I’m getting her this,” said another user, while also tagging a friend.

“OMG cute, our kids need these!” a third added.

However some Instagram users said they found it “disturbing”.

“The wooden blogger playset – what the heck?” one woman wrote.

“Seriously you want your toddler to start acting like an Instagram star! What about mud pies and sandcastles? This is what’s wrong with the world,” another added.

“Not impressed with this Kmart attempt! The vlogger set will give children the wrong idea at such young ages,” one woman commented.

One Instagram user said she found it “incredibly disturbing,” while another asked “what the world coming to?”

Alongside the two sets, Kmart has also released a three-piece wooden compass and knife set, wooden multi-lens board, insect cage, binoculars and six-piece wooden mushroom bag set.
