An Aussie mum has expressed her shock at Kmart for stocking what she deemed an inappropriately-titled book for children on its shelves.
An Aussie mum has expressed her shock at Kmart for stocking what she deemed an inappropriately-titled book for children on its shelves.
The picture book by Rosie Greening, titled Santa’s Stuck, at first glance sounds perfectly innocent and seasonally-appropriate.
In a video shared to TikTok, user @kellanne23 explained that she was browsing the kids’ book section when she spotted the title, Kidspot reports.
The cover shows a fireplace with Santa bent over and stuck, with the two red bumps of his bum cheeks – made of a squishy material intended to be poked by readers – sticking out of every page.

“So I’m here at Kmart, right?” the mum-of-two began.
“I’m in the children’s area, as you can see, and I stumbled on this, OK?
“And I just find it really … it’s not for kids.”
She then poked Santa’s bum cheek to demonstrate.
“Even though they’re squishy, why is this a book for children. Why?” she continued.
“Maybe as a sensory thing, but it’s not right for kids.”
Some followers thanked the woman for telling them about the book.
“Good to bring to our attention!!! That book company knows what they are doing,” one person wrote in the comments.
“Foul as hell,” another person said.
“A lot of toys have this fixation on butts and poo and bodily fluids,” a third commented.
“It’s gross and unnecessary, not educational or useful.”
But others thought she was being too sensitive.
“Good grief, it’s called a bit of fun. Cheeky humour, many of us have grown up with it,” one person said.
To which the mum responded: “Okay let’s say it’s for fun, but would it be so fun if it was kids touching other people’s butts?”
“We literally grew up on fart jokes. This is nothing. OMG,” another wrote.
“Get a life,” a third commented. “I read this all the time to my four-year-old. We love it. I guess I’m a bad parent now!”
