Coco Austin breaks down over brutal G-string bikini backlash
Coco Austin has spoken after being labelled “disgusting” for wearing skimpy swimmers to a family water park, saying: “I’m a good mum.”
A famous mum who was criticised for wearing a G-string bikini to the pool with her six-year-old daughter has broken down in tears over the brutal mum-shaming.
Coco Austin, 43, who is married to US rapper Ice-T, 64, is regularly targeted by online parenting police, previously copping heat for matching her skimpy swimwear to daughter Chanel’s cossie to continuing to push her little girl around in a pram.
But in a recent interview, Coco revealed how the negative commentary has affected her, describing it as like living “underneath a microscope all the time”.
“You don’t hear the goodness, you just hear a lot of bad,” she said in a trailer for a popular E! News entertainment show.
“And I know I’m a good mother.”

Through tears, Coco explained how she’d “put everything aside” to be a mum and as a result, she had hoped to receive “a little respect from people”.
But back in June, during a family holiday to the Bahamas, Coco shared a series of poolside snaps at Baha Bay Water Park where she was accused of dressing “inappropriately” thanks to her micro bikini.
In the photos, the mum and daughter duo rocked matching pink and blue swimmers on their excursion to the “luxury” water park – though Coco’s bottoms featured a skimpy G-string design.
The mum-of-one copped a barrage of abuse over her revealing bottoms, with many claiming the two-piece set was “inappropriate” at a public park where there were other children.
“Your bathing suit is soooo NOT appropriate for a water park,” one of Coco’s three million followers wrote.
“So I gotta ask, don’t you ever feel like maybe at a kid-friendly place a G-string is inappropriate? Just curious if you ever feel like that,” another said.
While another wrote: “INAPPROPRIATE for a water park.”
“It’s disgusting that’s what you think is acceptable to wear around children,” one said.
“Girl put some clothes on when your child is around, smh [shaking my head],” another wrote.
Coco didn’t address the backlash at the time, but continued to post bikini photos with her daughter, despite fierce public opinion.
Thankfully, Coco and Chanel received much warmer responses to her later snaps, with many declaring the pictures “were cute”.
She later tweeted explaining she’s “an unconventional mother”, adding she does “what works and is easier on me”.
Coco and Ice-T have been married for 22 years and welcomed their daughter in 2015.
