A’Rhyan Anderson: Boy ‘eaten alive’ by pack of dogs in South Carolina
An 11-year-old boy is lucky to be alive after being attacked by four dogs while walking to a bus stop, with a witness reporting the horrific scene.
A young boy in the US state of South Carolina was attacked by pack of dogs so savagely they “ate the muscle out of his leg”.
A’Rhyan Anderson’s mother said the primary school boy had a long road to recovery ahead after he was bitten 60 times.
The 11-year-old was set upon by four dogs about 7.40am on February 14 while walking to a school bus stop on a street in the city of Clinton.
A friend of the family reported the boy known as “Red” spotted the animals coming his way before trying to run but was chased down.
He suffered severe injuries and was flown to a hospital in Greenville for treatment.
Amy Lowe, A’Rhyan’s mother, told FOX8 her son had undergone surgery and was now in a stable condition.
“It’s traumatising. I’m traumatised. I’m sure my son is traumatised,” she told the outlet.
“He has a long road of recovery. He was bitten over 60 times. There’s no muscle. They ate all the muscle out of his left leg.”
A neighbour, Natasha Mims, also spoke about the harrowing moment she saw the dogs surrounding the boy before calling 911: “They were literally eating him.”
“The dogs really looked like they had eaten him alive,” she said.
“At this point, I didn’t know whether he was dead or alive. I saw nothing but bones. I saw that he was eaten up really bad.”
FOX8 reports police officers shot two of the dogs and the other two got away.
They are described as large, black mixed breed dogs.
“I want the dogs put down,” Ms Lowe said.
