A recall alert is being spread online, stating Nestle is recalling Gerber Banana Baby Food, expiring in 2012.
"Even if you're not a parent, please copy. You could save a baby's life,'' the alert reads.
But a Nestle spokeswoman said the notice, which has been circulating for a while, is a hoax, as the product has not been sold in Australia since 1998.
