THERE is a growing need for IVF donors from different racial backgrounds, according to an IVF clinic in Tasmania.
With demand outstripping supply there is a shortage of donors and award-winning clinic Tas IVF is calling for egg and sperm from people with a multicultural background, The Mercury reports.
The clinic has noticed an increase in demands for donations from people with a different racial background, said director Bill Watkins.
"There has often been the odd one but we now actually have quite a few on our waiting lists," he said. "We are really keen to find people from these groups who are keen on donating.
"Traditionally, around Australia, there has been very few Asian egg or sperm donors," Dr Watkins said. "And we have people in this category that we would really like to be able to help.”
Men aged 20-45 and females aged 18-30 are asked to contact the clinic to make a donation.
