Sunrise presenter Edwina Bartholomew announces pregnancy on air

Sunrise presenter David Koch officially lost it when his co-host Eddie Bartholomew dropped some very “exciting” news on him live on air.

Sunrise presenter Edwina Bartholomew has left her co-host Kochie completely stunned after she dropped some “exciting” news on him during a live cross.

David Koch officially lost it when Eddie revealed she was having her first baby with husband Neil Varcoe earlier this morning.

The 63-year-old threw his arms around the excited mum-to-be, gushing over her big “surprise” — that everyone knew except him.

Edwina Bartholomew dropped some ‘exciting’ news that delighted Kochie.

He threw his hands up in the air he was so happy.

“The girls already know but Kochie, surprise. We’re having a baby,” she said.

“Aww, that’s fantastic news,” he said, affectionately grabbing Eddie’s hands between his. “Really exciting.”

Eddie — who married Neil at a stunning farm wedding in April last year — went on to reveal their firstborn was due around the end of November or start of December.

As Kochie continued to lose it over the baby news, Eddie said: “I knew you’d be excited.”

“I love a baby,” he said, clapping his hands together.

The Sunrise hosts shared a tender moment when Eddie revealed she was expecting her first baby.

Fellow hosts Samantha Armytage and Natalie Barr were both also there, with Nat describing the bub as a “Sunrise baby”.

But when Sam asked whether Eddie knew what gender she was having, she revealed it was a point of contention for the couple.

“It’s an interesting debate because Neil wants to find out and I don’t,” she said, as an ultra-scan photo of the little one appeared on screen.

The hosts then teased that Eddie should host a popular gender reveal party on air, much to the mum-to-be’s horror.

Eddie teased the baby has her nose, though revealed the couple couldn’t decide whether to find out the baby’s sex.

“No, I don’t want a gender reveal,” she said, shaking her head. “No.”

She teased she might “punch” someone if they played meditative music during her labour, adding her mum was “bursting at the seams” to tell everyone the news.

The popular TV show shared the pregnancy news on its Twitter account, where fans have been congratulating the couple.

Eddie has since posted an adorable video of her ultrasound on her Instagram, telling fans she originally thought she’d eaten too many croissants.

“What initially presented as an over consumption of croissants, has turned out to be something a little more permanent #itsababy” she wrote.

In the minutes since the news was shared, stars have been congratulating the couple — including Channel 9 Today show host Deborah Knight.

“No waaaaaaay!!!! Amazing!!!!” she said.

Eddie and Neil met when they were working at radio station 2GB and have been dating ever since.

Their wedding came exactly a year after Neil proposed to Edwina at their Warramba property, which sits in between Lithgow and Mudgee in New South Wales.

The TV host wore a stunning delicate lace gown once worn by her grandmother on the day and hosted 160 guests.
