Australian burns survivor Turia Pitt has welcomed her second child with fiance Michael Hoskin.

The 32-year-old took to her Instagram on Sunday night to make the announcement, posting a series of snaps with her new bundle of joy, son, Rahiti.

“Welcome to the world Rahiti,” she wrote alongside the images.

While the second photo is of the newborn all cosied up in a colourful blanket.

More than 10,000 people have taken to the post to congratulate the mother-of-two including a bunch of her celebrity friends.

“Just precious. Congrats lovely and much love to you and the family,” wrote model Megan Gale, who was one of the first to comment.

Australian fashion stylist Lana Wilkinson was also quick to respond to the announcement: “Congratulations! So much love to you all, enjoy this amazing time.”

Meanwhile, Jesinta Franklin (nee Campbell), who is expecting her first child and is set to give birth soon, also sent her congratulations.

Turia, a former athlete, is also the proud mother of her two-year-old son Hakavai.

In October 2018, she told Stellar magazine that having a baby had changed her priorities.

“I no longer have any desire to do an ironman. Having a baby has changed me, and when you become a mum you quickly realise your whole life fits in around your kids.”

“I don’t want to be out running for five hours straight. I know how precious life is, and I’d rather be with my son.”

Last month Turia revealed motherhood had made her “a lot softer” in an interview with The Daily Telegraph.

“It has made me a lot more compassionate, more caring, more selfless and more conscious of the fact that I have someone else in the world that takes priority over me,” she told the publication.

“I have enjoyed how it has changed me.”

The motivational speaker has also been focusing her attention on helping those affected by the bushfire crisis.

She was instrumental in helping hundreds affected by the devastation to get back on their feet.

Having survived a grass fire during a supermarathon in 2011 that left her with burns to 65 per cent of her body, Turia’s fear of fire is deep seated, and seeing the nation ablaze up and down the south coast, her town of Ulladulla in the firing line, the panic was palpable.

When you’re facing a fire, she told her followers, it’s only in those last few seconds, when the flames are almost upon you, that you realise you could die.

Although she was terrified for those who were choosing to stay and defend their properties, Turia knew she couldn’t judge.

“Having survived (a fire) myself, I feel in those last moments you would regret staying, but I didn’t feel it was my place to go around shaking everyone, saying, ‘You are an idiot’, because that would be projecting my own experiences onto them.”

Turia said motherhood had made her ‘a lot softer’ and had also changed her priorities in life.

Instead, she wrote down what she was feeling and kept the television off.

“It was self-preservation – I wanted to keep the panic genie firmly inside,” she said.

Turia and her friend Grace McBride set up the @spendwiththem Instagram page, which encourages people to buy from businesses that have been impacted by the bushfires.

As with the #GoWithEmptyEskys and @buyfromthebush campaigns, Turia was keen for the public to help communities rebuild by putting money in their pockets.

Within an hour, the page had 10,000 followers; a week later, it had grown to nearly 200,000.
