Heartwarming update after tradie dad Dan Gaut flew to US to adopt his daughter
An Aussie tradie who made headlines after he raced to the US to stop his baby from being adopted has shared a heartwarming update.
A tradie who captured the nation’s heart after he dashed to the US to stop his baby from being adopted has reunited with his nine-month-old daughter in Australia.
Carpenter Dan Gaut, from Sydney’s north, was eagerly awaiting the arrival of a baby with his American girlfriend Liv Pavlov earlier this year when she returned home to the US and told him she planned on putting their daughter up for adoption.
Ms Pavlov, who had reunited with her ex, said Mr Gaut could raise their baby if he arrived soon after the birth, spurring him to jump on a plane to Texas in February.
However, Ms Pavlov later had a change of heart and decided to keep their daughter, Ana Rose.
In April, Ms Palov revealed the former couple were working on a shared custody agreement.
In a heartwarming update on Thursday, Mr Gaut has revealed their daughter, Ana Rose, has arrived in Australia to visit him.
“My heart is overflowing having my sweet lil angel come visit,” he captioned the post.
Mr Gaut shared a series of photos of the pair together at the beach, park and paddle boarding.
“Grateful that you and I have found the way to make this visit possible!” Ms Pavlov commented on the post.
Many were quick to share in the happy news and point out the similarities between the father and daughter, in the comments.
“This warms my heart! she’s a spitting image of you,” one person wrote.
“The best ever! She looks so much like you,” another wrote.
“Oh my gosh Dan, absolute perfection so happy for you and your baby girl!!!” another wrote.
“She is adorable, dad’s mini me. You both look so happy,” said another.
In a separate post on Instagram, Ms Pavlov wrote Ana Rose is “loving” her visit to Australia in, revealing the many outdoor activities they have been enjoying together.
“She slept nearly 12 hrs of the 15 hr flight and has been paddle boarding, kayaking, hiked a waterfall, visited Crystal castle, and been to the beach almost every day!” she wrote.
“She loves the nature and the animals and the water. So thankful for the harmony on this visit and that it can happen before the year is over. Miracles are real,” she continued.
“I love you baby Ana Rose and I trust your plan the plan of your soul, even when I don’t understand.”
Mr Gaut met his ex while holidaying in San Francisco in early 2023, before she followed him back to Australia.
The pair “were deeply in love and agreed to have a baby together”.
However, Ms Pavlov later flew to the US for a “visit” seeking her “support network” and told him she was considering handing the baby over for adoption.
“She was starting to send me adoption options for people that she knew in Texas, and she was sending me the links to the Instagram page,” he previously told A Current Affair
“And I was like, ‘No, this is, stop, don’t promise her to anyone.”
After arriving in the US, Ms Pavlov had a change of heart.
“I feel heartbroken and empty as I’m forced to leave America alone,” Mr Gaut wrote on Instagram at the time.
“I’d like to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who supported me on this journey,” he added.
“I will use the remaining donations to seek legal representation in Austin and to visit Ana as often as I can.”
A GoFundMe crowd-funding campaign was set up by Mr Gaut’s friends to help with travel and immigration costs. Over $35,000 was raised.
