YESTERDAY, we had a fire drill at work.

I was one of the last out of the office, and instead of heading to the fire stairs to walk the 25 flights down to the meeting point, I jumped into the lift. Yep - I made it to the bottom floor in twenty seconds flat with not a bead of sweat on my brow. And you know what? It felt good. Great, in fact.

Now I will be the first to admit that, by nature, I am not rebellious. At. All. In fact that lift trick was one of my most rebellious acts ever.

But before you judge, you have to admit you cannot deny the feeling of exhilaration you get when you do something you know you weren't necessarily supposed to do. Because we all need something to get us through the day, right?

So, here are 30 of life's little rebellious acts. Some are my own, some are from others in the news.com.au office. If you can identify with any of these, share your own experiences below.

1. Catching the lift in a fire drill instead of taking 25 flights of stairs

2. Selecting the cheaper mandarins at the self-serve checkout

3. Not paying for parking when you know you'll only be ten minutes

4. Not wearing your seat belt to drive to the corner store

5. Swallowing your chewing gum

6. Taking your kids on free train rides between stations that don't have ticket machines so you can keep them amused on the weekend

13. Gunning it through an orange traffic light

14. Strategically forgetting to bring your wallet to work drinks

15. Tearing recipes and pretty pictures out of magazines in waiting rooms

16. Smoke bombing - leaving a party without saying goodbye to anyone

17. Eating a grape or two before you pay for them at the checkout

18. Jumping the queue and pretending you didn't realise there were ten people in front of you

19. Not leaving a tip

20. Sneaking alcohol into the cinema/football/races

21. Driving in a T2 lane when it's only you in the car

22. Jaywalking in front of police cars to see if they would ever bother to stop and fine you

23. Eating potato chips for breakfast... potato is a vegetable so it's good for you, right?

24. Switching your phone back on before you've been told you can on the plane

25. Quickly closing the lift doors when you see people coming

26. Hiding the only item of clothing left in your size at a store on the off chance you'll want to come back and buy it

27. Taking the first flat white coffee ready at the coffee bar when you're in a hurry

28. Being given extra change accidentally and keeping it
