A comedian is cleaning his air fryer with as little effort as possible; you'll honestly wonder why you didn't think of this yourself - we did!

Air fryers are all well and good until... you need to clean them.  

This may sound silly to some, as they diligently clean their machines after each use. Or put down aluminum foil so they barely need to wipe over.

And then again...according to some sources (ie, my mates) they never need to be cleaned at all. 

This is an air fryer cleaning hack for those mates.

Air Fryer cleaning hack

Tom Mabe is a comedian, but he seems pretty serious about this hack - well, at least insofar as it actually seems to work. (Only a handful of commenters treated it like a joke.)

Whether he's taking the piss out of air fryer lovers (rude) or not, putting liquid into his machine does seem to work. Here's what he does:

1. Make Air Fryer as dirty with grease and food debris as possible.
2. Run the drawer under some warm water, drizzle in some detergent.
3. Pop the drawer back in and switch the machine on, as if you are making something.
4. Pop it on for 15 minutes and 200 degrees
5. Pour the dirty water down the sink as you would if handwashing dishes

But there might be an issue...

Lots of people on social media loved the hack, and it's  been viewed 7.2 million times. The comments included:

"I did this since [my fryer] was new. Still looks like I took it out of the box."

"Why didn’t I think of that, thank you!"

"Y'all will do anything but scrub it to get it clean lol."

"YES! THATS EXACTLY HOW I CLEAN MINE."

"I never saved a video so fast in my life."

But there were plenty of naysayers, who unhelpfully suggested giving the drawer a quick scrub, or leaving it to soak, neither of which is a non-cleaning hack.

And while many verified the hacks, others complained they had somehow "broken" theirs by doing the same thing.

"Don’t do that," one warned. "There is a RAW burner and a fan above the heating tray that will be destroyed by the water bubbling up in the steam running through it."

(Models vary, obviously, so check yours.)

Other air fryer cleaner ideas

Many offered their air fryer cleaning hacks:

"Nah, but you can use hot water with baking soda and vinegar, let it soak for 5-10 minutes."

"Or you could just put it in the dishwasher."

"Put the damn thing in the sink and hand wash it...less than fifteen minutes."

Some also waded into the comments just to flex what they felt was their intellectual superiority.

"This is how I know air fryer people are the dumbest f*cks ever," one person bluntly wrote, which we feel was highly uncalled for. *hugs own air fryer
