A woman has revealed an “amazing” way to get rid of grease and stains on plastic containers with her video clocking up half a million views.

Easy way to fix gross kitchen problem

A woman’s cleaning hack video has been viewed more than half a million times, with the simple “trick” leaving many stunned.

TikTok user Sharini couldn’t believe it herself that washing liquid, warm water and paper towel would actually get rid of stains and grease built up in her plastic food containers.

She shared a step-by-step video of the easy “trick” to the popular social media platform alongside the caption: “I did NOT believe this could work.”

“I just wanted to share this trick on how to get rid of stains that are greasy in Tupperware,” she began the clip.

“Put a little bit of dishwashing soap into the Tupperware and add some warm water.

“Then you’re going to want to add a few pieces of ripped up paper towel and seal it up.”

She then advises to shake the container vigorously for 45 seconds to a minute.

“Once you rinse it out, it’s completely clean and doesn’t have that greasy feel anymore,” she said.

One woman commented that she “couldn’t believe it either”.

“I tell everyone about this trick,” she said.

“I straight away knew it’s going to work. I just never thought of it. Thanks for the tip,” another person added.

“I always knew this life hack since childhood and thought it’s common,” a third user wrote.

One person suggested using a teaspoon of salt, instead of tissue.

“Then shakeshakeshake. Then no more grease,” the TikTok user said, while another added that dishwashing liquid and sugar, without water, also works.

“A little water and detergent. Lid on, one minute in microwave. Careful taking the lid off then light scrub. All done!” another person suggested.

However, not everyone agreed with the woman’s “trick”, branding it as time-consuming.

“Too much time on soaking than just using a normal dish sponge,” one woman commented.

“Who would have thought you should use dish soap to clean those,” another person joked.

Others pulled the woman up on branding the container as “Tupperware” to which she clarified she was Australian and used an American woman’s audio to overlay the clip while demonstrating.

It’s not the first cleaning hack to attract plenty of attention.

Earlier this month, US mum and influencer Jeannie @alittleaboutalot shared how she keeps her shower clean by always having a dish scrubber with a soap dispenser on her shelf unit along with her toiletries.

“I wanted to show you guys a shower and bath hack that I actually shared on YouTube probably like 10 years ago have one of these in each of our showers and baths,” Jeannie shared in a TikTok video that has since been viewed more than 365,000 times.

“I leave it right in here and after I’m done taking a shower I clean the shower, so there’s no deep-cleaning shower days.”

Jeannie fills the brush’s soap dispenser up with half vinegar and half dishwashing detergent and runs it over the shower or bath, then rinses it off.

Jeannie’s shower tip got hundreds of comments from people praising the hack as a “great idea” and “genius”.

“Whoa! Game changer! Thanks!” one person wrote, while another added: “This is so smart.”

Others said they had been using this shower trick for years and it had drastically cut down on their cleaning time.
