Lilo the Husky adopts a sick kitten named Rosie and are now the best of friends
DOGS and cats are normally the worst of enemies. Meet Lilo the husky and Rosie the kitten who share the most unusual and loving of friendships.
BE prepared to be hit with a face full of cuteness.
Meet Rosie the kitten. She was rescued by husky owner Thoa Bui when she was only a few days old and clinging to her life.
Enter Bui’s Siberian husky Lilo who, along with her two husky pals Infinity and Miko, took the sick kitten under their wing and have seemingly have helped to nurse her back to health.
Lilo’s owner cautiously introduced the two together, but after seeing them hit it off immediately they started an Instagram account to share their cuteness with the world.
The owner introduced Rosie to Instagram with the caption below:
“Her name is Rosie. She has been with us for about five days. She almost did not make it through the first night ... Even with round the clock care. She was lethargic and limp. So we decided to go out on a limb and let her cuddle extensively with Lilo. By some miracle, she started suckling on Lilo and Lilo went full “mum mode”. Even stimulating it to go to the bathroom. (This was very shocking to me). Since then, Rosie’s been getting much better and her eyes opened! It’s probably safe to say Rosie has made it through the worse of it. This clip is of them together the second night!”
“We took a chance and put her with Lilo, and Lilo really saved her life. Lilo never left Rosie’s side for hours. She cuddled her and comforted her until she was better and ready to finally drink from a bottle,” Bui said.
Not only has Rosie the kitten been happy to play with the huskies, but it seems she’s also taken to going on hikes with her fellow huskies and owners. Anyone who has owned a cat would know walking a cat on a leash is no mean feat.
Here’s another Instagram video to hit you right in the ‘feels’ with Rosie getting a booster shot while a concerned Lilo watches on.
While Lilo and Rosie’s clearly love each other, their owners warn others to exercise caution when introducing a husky to another pet, especially a cat.
“Huskies are notorious for their intense prey drive! So please don’t run out and get a kitten (or a husky) expecting them to be best friends. It is very uncommon for them to get along (without growing up with each other), so please! Protect your pets and make smart decisions bringing new ones home,” Bui said via Instagram.
