Golden Retriever praised by police after finding $100K of heroin
A FAMILY’S mischievous Golden Retriever was digging up their backyard when he discovered a packaged of black tar heroin worth $100,000.

Today the answer is Kenyon, an 18-month-old Golden Retriever who uncovered about $100,000 of heroin while digging in his family’s backyard in Yamhill County in the US state of Oregon.
The pup has been praised on Facebook and presented with an official Yamhill County K-9 citation ribbon by the Sheriff who named him an honorary narcotic K-9 for life.
His owners, who wish to remain anonymous, thought Kenyon had discovered a time capsule left by the previous owners for “posterity” sake.
Excited, they decided to film themselves opening it but what they found left them bewildered.
Concerned they called the Yamhill County Sheriff’s Officer who arrived and identified the substance as about 425 grams of black tar heroin.
Black tar heroin is a more impure form of the addictive opioid and gets its name from its black and sticky consistency.
Approximately 425 grams were retrieved from the property and with one hit usually being sold as a mere 0.1 grams the commendable find is worth around $100,000.
Sheriff Tim Svenson commended Kenyon in a Facebook post: “Opioid addiction and overdose deaths are on the rise and with the help of Kenyon this large quantity of heroin is removed from our community”.
