Cat cucumber video the funniest thing you’ll see this week

IT MAY be the funniest thing you see on the internet all week. But this viral video of cats being terrified by a harmless cucumber may make you paws for thought.

IT MAY be the funniest thing you see on the internet all week.

But some animal fans warn placing a cucumber near a cat is nothing to be hissed at.

In a YouTube video, which has gone viral, pet owners have been filming their pets’ reactions when the object is placed near them.

In the clip, which now has almost 3 million views since being uploaded on November 11, most cats reactions see them recoil in fear, while others try and hunt, paw at or scratch the green fruit.

Some users even tested their cats against a zucchini and got the same reaction.

One animal experts warned owners against posting such videos, claiming it scares and stresses their pets unnecessarily.

Cat-behaviour expert at the University of Bristol John Bradshaw told National Geographic the videos were despicable and were “an incitement for people to scare their cats and then invite people to laugh at them.”

He said cucumbers trigger the felines’ normal startle responses as most would not normally see one placed near them and some may even mistake the object for a snake or reptile.

However, other Twitter users tried the experiment and couldn’t see what the fuss was about.
