Almost 80 dogs seized after inspectors swoop on alleged puppy farm

Dozens of dogs have been rescued after inspectors from the animal welfare watchdog cracked an alleged puppy farm in regional NSW.

Almost 80 dogs have been rescued from an alleged puppy farm in the NSW central west.

RSPCA inspectors swooped on the regional property on Wednesday morning and seized 79 dogs, many of which needed veterinary care.

The animal welfare grouped launched an investigation following reports of alleged breaches of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.

Several inspectors were called in to help as well as two veterinarians and animal transport officers.

In a statement the RSPCA said the dogs and puppies required “varying degrees of veterinary treatment”.

All pups had been taken to hospital by Thursday morning.

“The investigation is ongoing. A decision to lay charges against the person of interest will be made within 60 days,” the RSPCA said in a statement.

The RSPCA and NSW Police have been contacted for comment.
