Would you pay someone to take out your bins?
IT’S a tiresome chore that nobody likes doing, and now two blokes are offering a ‘bins to kerb’ service — assisting people to get their bins to the kerb for collection.
SOME Sydney residents can now have their bins taken out for less than the price of a cup of coffee.
Sydney company MyBins, founded by Joe Drew and Amos Michael, provides a ‘bins to kerb’ service — assisting people to get their bins to the kerb for collection.
After starting about two and a half years ago, MyBins recently expanded to the council areas of Mosman, North Sydney and Willoughby in Sydney’s lower north shore three months ago.
“Originally we decided to help elderly and disabled members of the community,” Mr Drew said.
The idea sprung from talking to people like his neighbour and grandmother who had trouble taking out their own bins, he said.
For people with long steep driveways and stairs, taking bins out could be an issue.
MyBins charges $1 per bin moved and a $5 minimum per visit.
“We didn’t want price to be an issue,” Mr Drew said.
Elderly and disabled people now make up 30 per cent of their client base with the rest compiling of businesses, apartment blocks and average households.
