UK woman’s incredible pink ‘Barbie Dream House’
Long before the hugely popular doll was turned into a hit Hollywood movie starring Margot Robbie, this woman was living the Barbie dream.
A woman who owns a real-life, bright pink Barbie house says everyone who sees it absolutely loves it.
Long before the hugely popular doll was turned into a hit Hollywood movie starring Margot Robbie, Eaton House Studio in Tiptree, Essex, was already a vibrant shade of Barbie pink.
Amy Griffith bought and started developing the property in 2009, The Sunreported.
It can now be hired out for a hen’s night, a getaway location or, as Amy says, a “sanctuary of self-expression”.
“Most people that visit the house absolutely love it and are awe-struck of the magic inside,” she told Essex Live.
“Guests get transported to another world where the everyday stresses of life seem to slip away. Who doesn’t want more of that?”
The property was originally designed as a residence as well as a permanent set for photography and films, but now it also serves as a piece of art in its own right, Amy said.
“Ultimately, I chose to create Eaton House Studio to create art that sparks curiosity, provokes thought, and invites people to see the world through a different rose-coloured lens,” she said.
“People couldn’t help but be captivated by its uniqueness and allure. Curiosity sparked, and soon enough, inquiries began pouring in from those who were intrigued by the possibility of experiencing the magic first-hand.”
Each of the dozens of rooms in Eaton House Studio have been designed in their own unique way and they have their own character.
The property can serve as a venue for special occasions, photo shoots, campaigns, TV projects, music video and as a retail space.
Amy, who originally hails from California, said the inspiration simply came from the colour pink itself.
“Colours have this incredible ability to evoke emotions, tell stories, and transport us to different worlds,” she said. “However, Eaton House Studio, aka Pink House, goes beyond just colour.
“It symbolises so much more. For me, it represents a sanctuary of self-expression and individuality.
“It’s a celebration of embracing your uniqueness and breaking free from societal norms. The Pink House stands out amid a sea of conformity.”
It can sleep 16 people and can be hired on Airbnb from £2652 ($5170) per night.
The listing claims that the house “delivers bespoke work and leisure experiences in extraordinary surroundings”.
It says: “Our home is THE pink house with flamingoes and unicorns. The perfect place for celebrating a special occasion with family and friends.
“The house is extremely large art installation that is constantly evolving.”
It has a private hot tub, a garden with a barbecue, a superking bedroom, a family room and four double bedrooms, as well as a double sofa bed elsewhere.
There are two lounges, a large studio space with garden access, and a kitchen with open plan dining room and flexible seating.
Guests can also make the most of two bar areas, a pool table, a 52 inch television with Sky TV and two portable sound systems.
