Aldi selling fiddle-leaf fig trees for $10 in Special Buys sale
The supermarket chain is selling a popular home product that normally costs $179 for a heavily discounted price – but there’s a catch.
With most of us spending more time inside in the past 12 months than ever before, demand has shot up for house plants.
That’s why Aldi’s upcoming Special Buys sale is sure to be blooming popular, with the supermarket selling a range of plants and seeds starting at just $1.29.
With the most expensive plant costing $19.99, there are plenty of bargains available, in particular a dwarf fiddle-leaf fig tree available for just $9.99.

Fully-grown versions of the plant can cost up to $179 at Bunnings making its $9.99 price tag a steal.
But unfortunately the fiddle leaf will only be available at Aldi stores in Western Australia, with other state’s stores having spider plants, umbrella plants and sedums available instead.
All Australian stores will sell a range of succulents and 90mm ferns for $4.99 each as well as herb, flower and vegetable seeds for $1.29 a pop.
There will also be gardening accessories available such as a walk-in greenhouse for $49.99 or grow table for $89.99.
The Special Buys sale hits Aldi stores on Wednesday, March 17.
WHERE TO BUY A FIDDLE-LEAF FIG TREE
Fiddle-leaf figs are one of the most popular indoor plants and can be purchased from garden nurseries, as well as major retailers such as Ikea and Bunnings.
Ikea has a 19cm fiddle-leaf fig available for $29.99 as well as a 12cm miniature version for $12.99.
Bunnings also has an extensive range of fiddle-leaf fig trees available, the largest of which is a 40cm version for $179.
Last year, Bunnings sparked a frenzy among green thumbs when it was revealed the store was selling fiddle leaf fig seedlings for just $3.75.
People were soon stockpiling the plant, with one woman writing: “I told myself I would never buy a fiddle leaf fig then I see these babies … Couldn’t stop myself.”
Unlike other indoor plants fiddle-leaf figs require little maintenance, with direct sunlight and a warm temperature all they need to thrive.
Their leafy foliage has also made them popular with interior designers, especially for people living in apartments.
