Mum’s ‘mind blowing’ sock trick has left social media users impressed

It might be obvious to some but for others facing this dilemma, a woman’s laundry trick has left them calling it a “game changer”.

All you need is a plastic laundry basket and you’ve got yourself a sock dryer.

While it may seem obvious to some, there’s been plenty of social media users who have had their “minds blown” by this Aussie mum’s clever sock hanger.

Taking to Facebook, the woman shared an image of her $3 Kmart basket with her children’s newly-washed underwear and socks hanging securely in the holes.

“So if you have lots of little socks and jocks in your washing this is how I use my washing basket to dry mine,” the woman wrote in the popular Facebook organising group, Mums Who Organise.

“Saves a lot of stuffing around with lots of pegs.”

Her post was flooded with grateful members who said they wish they had known of the sock trick sooner.

“Wish I knew about this 9 years ago. Game changer!,” one person wrote.

“My mind is blown. Now I don’t have to bother trying to hang them up with the larger items of clothing,” another member added.

Others simple described her idea as “genius”.

“Omg yes great idea!” one woman said.

The tactic didn’t come as a shock to everyone with one person saying she does this “all the time”.

“7 people in my house, so that’s close to 100 socks a week,” the woman said.

Cleaning and organising tricks are a hot topic online at the moment as households look for shortcuts and tips to reduce the amount of time spent on cleaning and tidying.

Last year a $5 item officially sent the internet into a spin when it was revealed a denture cleaner called Polident could be used to transform mucky kitchen tiles, revitalise old couches and even wipe out nasty odours from smelly shoes.

It all started with a post in the Aussie Facebook group, Mums Who Clean, where a woman shared impressive before and after shots of her beige sofa after giving it a good scrub using the denture cleaner.

After mixing just three of the tablets with some warm water in a spray bottle, she said she let the solution soak in for five minutes before scrubbing the sofa “hard” with a dish wash brush — using a towel to absorb the dirty water.

The mum repeated this trick until the towel came back clean, using three bottles of water and nine tablets in total to make her sofa look as good as new.

With fresh inspiration, another woman took to a similar group Mums Who Cook, Clean and Organise to reveal she’d used the nifty trick on her bathroom floor and was loving the results.

“I used the Polident whitening ones tablets, put two in a spray bottle with water,” she shared.

“The whole bathroom floor took me with 40min with toothbrush. Sure a grout brush would of quicker.”

Earlier this year, another hack went viral — this time using a dishwasher tablet to clean a washing machines.

However, the five-minute dishwasher tablet craze left many sceptical about safety and dangers of using a product not made for washing machines.

An expert in the field told news.com.au at the time it is important to follow the manufacturer’s guide as to how clean your washing machine.
