The internet is loving this $5 carpet cleaning hack

Thought your carpets were clean? Think again. A bargain hack sweeping the internet has stunned homeowners with its results.

Life hacks that do work and some that don't

The internet has gone wild for a super cheap carpet cleaning hack that involves using just one item — a $5 squeegee.

British Instagram star Sophie Hinchcliffe — also known as cleaning guru Mrs Hinch — sent social media into a spin recently when she revealed the secret behind her fresh carpet.

Unbelievably, the trick to her impeccable carpets is a window cleaning tool that she uses to scraped hidden dust, dirt and hair up from the fibres.

She added that it was ideal for getting to hard-to-reach areas like corners and around the parameter of your carpet.

Sharing her game-changing hack with her 1.8 million followers, she said most people wouldn’t even be able to see the dirt hiding deep in the carpet as vacuuming makes it appear clean.

But in the video demonstration on her Instagram Stories, Mrs Hinch said a squeegee would reveal the horrors lurking in your carpets.

It didn’t take long for other social media users to give the technique a try — leaving many stunned.

One wrote: “Always thought we had clean carpets but after using @mrshinchhome tip to squeegee the carpet — all this pet hair come up — disgusted is an understatement.”

Explaining to a follower, the user continued: “I used a squeegee and literally dragged it across the carpet.

“Racks up all the hair and dirt.”

Speaking to The Sun last year, Mrs Hinch revealed she only created the Mrs Hinch Home account two years ago to avoid “clogging up my personal Instagram and boring everyone with home pictures”.

Now, the 28-year-old has become an online sensation around the world, admitting cleaning helps her cope with “anxiety and panic attacks”.

Cleaning hacks have been taking the internet by storm recently — with a lot of love being shown for the mind-blowing denture cleaning hack, that has incredible results on just about everything in the home.
