Take a peek inside Rebecca Judd’s unbelievably beautiful home
REBECCA and Chris Judd’s Brighton house is ridiculous. Ridiculously beautiful, that is. She invites us in to take a peek at her minimalist dream home.
WHEN you first walk into the spectacular home of Rebecca Judd in the Melbourne beachside suburb of Brighton, you’ll find yourself in what she calls ‘the good front room’.
The space is flooded with light and features a striking painting by Melbourne artist Miranda Skoczek, a Christian Lacroix floor rug and Fritz Hansen Ro armchairs.
“Good” seems like an understatement: it’s perfectly styled by Judd, who could easily make a career out of interior design.
The Melbourne-based beauty who describes herself as “warm, genuine, busy, easy going and punctual” is married to the now retired Carlton football star Chris Judd (who has his very own man cave downstairs) and together the couple have two adorable children: Oscar, 3, and Billie, 1.
Judd started her career as a model before moving into speech pathology and now works as a blogger at Rebecca Judd Loves, television presenter and co-founder of beauty school Beauty EDU.
The Judd family built their home from scratch and moved in 18 months ago.
“Our home is contemporary with minimal fixtures and fittings and then lots of timber, natural stone and bright pops of colour make it feel warm and lived in.
“I hate clutter and ‘things’ lying round so it’s definitely more on the clean side. Each room has a distinct personality but it all works,” she says.
The modern home is built with lots of glass, natural light, concrete and dark timber cabinetry and window frames.
“I really only started taking an interest in interior design when I was building our home. Suddenly a whole new world of creativity, design and shopping opened up for me,” says Judd.
In the dining room, there’s a sleek black Jardan dining table and white Thonet No. 18 dining chairs with a custom black sock finish, a Fenton and Fenton wire chandelier in oyster grey and a vibrant Dean Reilly artwork.
If you wander through the home, you’ll find colourful works by artists ranging from Michael Muir to Ali McNabney-Stevens.
“I would much rather spend my money on homewares, art and furniture than fashion items these days. I’m not sure whether this is a sign of my new found love for interiors or just my older age!” says Judd, with a laugh.
She describes her children’s rooms as contemporary but warm. “They are the types of rooms, which both mums and children will love. Pops of colour pared back with neutrals and lots of different textures and layers,” says Judd.
For her daughter’s room, she commissioned a pastel-coloured painting by emerging Perth based illustrator and artist Sara Winfield. “I’m so anti cartoon characters and candy pink,” she adds.
Did someone say dream home?
