Mum’s genius cleaning hack using $2 item
A Melbourne mum has revealed the unusual product she uses to keep mirrors sparkling — and it’s a cheap item most of us have in the bathroom cabinet.
It’s an area many people find hard to keep clean, even though we spend plenty of time looking at ourselves with it.
But one Melbourne mother has shared her unusual hack to keep the bathroom mirror sparkling clean and stop it from fogging up — and most of us already have the required product in our cabinet.
Chantal Mila, who shares cleaning and home hacks via her TikTok and Instagram accounts, posted a video explaining how she uses shaving cream to keep metal surfaces streak-free.

The mother of two recommended you “buff onto mirrors for a streak free shine and to prevent fogging”.
It also works for any stainless steel surfaces such as fridges or dishwashers, with Chantal writing that it resulted in a “perfect clean” and will “keep finger prints away for longer”.
You can even use it to clean jewellery, with Chantal writing that it was “gentle and effective” and all you had to do was “apply and wash-off”.
Best of all, Chantal said that “any foam-based shaving cream should do”, meaning you could give it a go with the cheapest version which costs just $2.30 at Woolworths or Coles.
Chantal’s video got dozens of comments from viewers who said they were “so trying” this hack.
“Adds shaving cream to grocery list even though husband has a full beard and hoping he doesn’t think it’s for a side man,” one person commented.
“Thank you for this! I’ve been wondering how to unfog my mirror and keep it streak free,” another said.
“I’ve tried this and it definitely works on mirrors in the bathroom,” one person commented.

It’s not the only use for shaving cream — last month a woman in the Facebook group Mums Who Clean shared how she used it to get rid of odours around the toilet, as well as keeping tiles sparkling.
All you had to do was spray the shaving cream on the tiles for 30 minutes before washing off with hot water and a mop.
Others that tried the hack wrote that it was a miracle worker.
“Definitely works … it get rid of the urine smell and marks on the tile … just don’t let it dry … I do mine every week,” one wrote.
“I’ve done this. Leaves it smelling great. Did a good job on the grout around it too,” another added.
“The only thing that removes wee smell. It’s a must for mums with boys!!” commented a third member.
