Kmart’s new $65 ’smart’ kettle you can turn on in bed wows internet
A mum has caused a stir over a new kitchen gadget from the discount superstore after she revealed you can turn on from bed.
Shoppers are raving about a Kmart “smart” kettle that you can switch on from the comfort of your bed.
A mum shared a photo of the new $65 kitchen gadget online, explaining the silver device had built in Wi-Fi that you can connect to an app on your phone to control it remotely.
Sharing her discovery in a Facebook group, the woman declared the purchase was the “best $65 I’ve ever spent”.
“Connects to your smartphone so you can turn your kettle on while still in bed, just as long as there is water in the kettle,” the woman wrote in Kmart Mums Australia.
“You can adjust the temperature from your phone, (it’s) pretty quiet too.”
Her glowing review has caused an explosion of excitement, with some declaring the Kmart item “bloody awesome”.

“Oh wow! That’s awesome. I’m going to get one for sure! The idea of turning it on from my bed has won me over,” one woman wrote.
“I need this in my life!” another declared, as someone else said: “Seriously that’s bloody awesome.”
One woman teased: “Now all we need is someone to make it and deliver it to the bedroom!”
The post, which has attracted over 1400 comments since it was shared on Tuesday evening, also attracted streams of people who wrote “want”, “need” and “amazing”.
Others suggested Kmart needed to make a wireless coffee machine so they could do the same for their morning caffeine hit.
“I need a coffee machine like this so I can make my coffee from my bed,” one wrote.
“Love this but I would prefer a coffee version,” someone else agreed.
But not everyone was impressed with the nifty machine, writing there were better ways to spend their cash.
“This is for lazy people! I definitely can spend $65 (on) better things,” one sulked.
“It is the definition of luxury,” another scoffed, while one stated the device was “that’s next level lazy”.
Many defended the clever kettle, saying it was time saving and adding “each to their own”.
“Call it lazy or whatever but I can set it to turn on when I’m at the shops etc. And I love it!” one woman said.
“As a mum, this is a great idea. If you think it’s lazy, don’t buy one,” another wrote.
According to the Kmart website, the “Smart Variable Temperature Kettle” contains 1.7L and has five temperature options to make the perfect cuppa dependant on your tastes. These include green tea, black tea and everyone’s favourite – coffee.
The app to control the gadget – which currently only comes in grey – is compatible with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.
