Kmart shoppers using $35 item to transform their homes

Kmart shoppers have discovered a versatile and affordable item to help transform their rental homes without the risking of losing their bond.

$35 Kmart item ‘game-changer for renters’

Just when you thought Kmart couldn’t get any better, out it comes with a $35 home item that’s got shoppers hooked.

The Aussie retailer is now selling removable wallpaper, but not just any wallpaper – super fancy ones with an array of different styles and uses.

Ever since it hit shelves earlier this month, Kmart lovers have wasted no time nabbing the affordable item and showing off their home transformations on social media.

One woman even dubbed it as a “game changer for renters” given its removable aspect.

“Well this is exciting. Do you know Kmart has a new removable wallpaper,” TikTok user Michelle said alongside a video showing off the designs.

“This is a game changer for renters or people like me who just like to change things up on a regular basis.”

Another woman, who opted for the floral design, described it as a “boujee makeover on a budget”.

She used the $35 item to create a feature wall in her daughter’s bedroom with the pink and white colours matching the rest of the room.

However, as popular as it has already become, some people had no idea about the product.

“THANK YOU, I’m going to Kmart,” one woman responded.

“I’ve been thinking about using the floral design. Gorgeous,” said another.

Others were sceptical about whether it would leave marks on walls once removed and also how long it lasts.

“I’m more interested in how well it removes and if it leaves a residue or takes paint off or leaves a shadow of the print,” one TikTok user wrote.

“I did my daughter’s room, still on the wall day three,” one woman responded.

According to Kmart’s website, the $35 wallpaper is recommended for use only on smooth surfaces such as ceramic and glass tiles, acrylic wall panels, mirrors, smooth painted gypsum, stainless metal or laminate.

“Not for use with rough, textured, uneven or unfinished surfaces,” it states.

The retailer also advised to do a test patch first and check after seven days for suitability of surface.

“While this wallpaper has been tested on the recommended surfaces in varying conditions, we cannot guarantee that under all circumstances the material will stay completely intact, that the product will properly adhere to the surface or that no adhesive will remain on the surface when removed.”

Meanwhile, it’s not the only Kmart item that has shoppers raving. They’re also loving the retailer’s $25 adhesive 3D tiles which come in four designs.

One woman took to a popular Kmart group on Facebook to show how she used the fake white subway tiles to give her kitchen splashback a completely new look.

“I can honestly not believe how these fake subway tiles turned out! I absolutely love it,” she captioned various before and after photos.

“Not bad for $125 worth of stickers. Yes I’ve used the stove and the wall behind didn’t even get warm.”

She added that she only uses the front two stove plates when cooking.

Kmart warns against installing the fake tiles behind a gas cooktop without a protective rear panel, and says you should leave an area of 20cm between the adhesive tiles and any open flame.

“They look great! Mine are still in the packet but I may actually put them on this weekend after seeing how awesome yours look,” one person responded.

“Love. I maaaay have just purchased 12 packs of the marble look for my home salon,” another added.
