Huge change to Aldi’s popular Special Buys

For the first time ever in Australia, Aldi shoppers can now nab Special Buys items online, but there’s just two products to kick things off.

Aldi: The best special buys of all time

Aldi shoppers no longer have to line up for Special Buys items after the German retailer announced it was taking some of its sale items online.

Aldi announced its bold move into the online space in March and today it has revealed the two exclusive products it will be selling via its online store.

The $499 latex mattress (queen size) and $879 French Door Fridge will be available to purchase online on May 26 and May 29 respectively.

The trial will test a range of products over the coming months, from bulky items, like the mattress and the fridge, to high value and everyday Special Buys.

At this stage they have no plans for online groceries, however as for the other items, Aldi will look at extending its online trial based on customer feedback.

“We are constantly looking for ways to improve the experience for our customers and are very excited to be taking our first steps into e-commerce,” Aldi Australia group director of customer interactions Simon Padovani said.

“Our limited initial online offer allows us to set the foundations for our future program.

“We encourage customers to check our catalogue and website for exciting new online offers every week,” he said.

As for the first ever items you can buy online from the Aldi store, the mattress features latex and memory foam comfort layers with a removable and washable cover.

It comes in a box but expands to full size once unpacked and includes a 12-month warranty.

The 545-litre french door fridge has a chilled water dispenser, two crisper drawers with separate humidity controls, dual cycle and cooling system, multi-air flow design with 360 air cooling and super freezing and super cooling functions.

In line with in-store Special Buys, any online exclusive products will be released on shop.aldi.com.au and in the Aldi catalogue.

The online exclusives will be available for purchase at 8.30am on Wednesdays and Saturdays, in line with ALDI stores opening time and will be available while stocks last.
