Dyson launches larger version of ‘most powerful’ cordless vacuum

The British tech giant has surprised fans with a larger version of its “most powerful” cordless vacuum, dubbed “perfect for families”.

Dyson unveils new product that 'no one has done before'

Dyson has surprised tech fans after announcing it was releasing a larger version of its “most powerful” cordless vacuum.

The British technology giant has just launched the Dyson Gen5outsize, a bigger model of the Gen5detect which launched at the end of last year.

Mostly the stick vac is same, but with super-sized features, including a 150 per cent larger bin, a wider cleaner head, and a swappable battery to give up to 70 minutes more run time for longer cleans.

Like its smaller predecessor, the $1649 home appliance also has Dyson’s fifth generation “Hyperdymium motor”, which delivers a powerful 262 air watts of suction, and the top of the range high efficiency particulate air absorbing (HEPA) filter which captures 99.99 per cent of particles down to a minuscule 0.1 microns.

Charlie Park, vice president of floor care at Dyson, said the snazzy filter is so important in homes as it traps in even the tiniest of germs and allergens to remove them completely from your home.

“The best filter cannot provide clean air if there is an opportunity for dirty air to leak out of the machine – so our engineers worked hard to ensure that all our Dyson vacuums have whole-machine filtration,” he said.

“In our Gen5outsizeT vacuum, we went a step further with HEPA filtration to ensure that even microscopic particles as small as 0.1 microns remain trapped in the machine.”

The Gen5outsize also comes with the improved “Fluffy Optic” cleaner head which was given an overhaul last year to improve the optic LED technology that helps users see exactly where to clean.

It has kept the highly-praised single button control which removed the need to hold the classic trigger, for more comfortable, continuous cleaning. Many labelled this tweak to Dyson’s popular handheld devices a “game-changer” last year, noting the previous design could be “painful” and “annoying”.

Dyson’s latest super-sized vacuum has only just hit shelves, but already Australians are raving about the bigger 1.9 litre bin and 12.5 inch cleaning head.

“OMG, I need this,” one woman wrote on TikTok.

“Just when you thought Dyson couldn’t get any better,” another said.

As one stated: “These are solid upgrades from the former outsize model!! Looks like a busy family’s perfect solution!”

Dyson has been busy in 2023, recently launching its first ever robot vacuum in Australia, the 360 Vis Nav.

The brand has spent decades perfecting its robo vac technology, finally releasing the $2399 device in May, which has six times the suction of any other on the market.

The 360 Vis Nav was one of three new home cleaning products Dyson announced recently, including the Dyson Purifier Big+Quiet, a larger and quieter version of its cult purifier.

It also launched the brand’s first wet-to-dry vacuum, the Dyson Submarine, has also been announced which features a wet roller head that attaches to the V15s Detect cordless vacuum.

And as if that wasn’t enough, Dyson also announced the Airstrait, a game-changing new hair straightener that uses only air to tame tresses. It will launch in Australia in 2024.
