One woman has revealed how she transformed her “disaster” linen cupboard using a $10 product from Kmart – and she’s won plenty of fans in the process.

Sarah Jaremenko took two hours to transform the messy space using just one item from the discount department store.

“I wish I took a before photo because it was a disaster,” she said. “Nothing was in order, so if there’s a spot just put it there and that will be fine.”

The 25-year-old property manager from Victoria has used her time in lockdown to tackle the project after her very tidy fiance complained about the cupboard.

“He was like, ‘you can’t keep shoving sh*t everywhere,” Sarah joked, “So I said, ‘If you want to buy me the containers and the machine to make the labels I’ll organise it’.”

The couple decided to buy more of a set of $10 Kmart containers after discovering they fit perfectly into the space.

“We had them at the bottom of the linen closet just to store cr*p that couldn’t be seen,” Sarah said.

“There’s only two of us, so it works really well to have a full towel set in one box and a doona set in another.

“So once we worked out they fit perfectly on the shelves we just measured how many we would need and then were able to organise everything and make sure we had a spot for it to go.”

The couple spent $240 buying the containers and saved space by throwing away old papers. They also invested in a $395 Cricut machine to label each box.

“It was just a matter of what do we actually need, and what receipts or warranties can we put on the computer, so we’re not cluttering everything into boxes,” Sarah said.

After reorganising everything into the new boxes, Sarah shared the photos in a Kmart group on Facebook and was “really shocked” by the response.

“We thought it a great idea but we didn’t really think anything past it, so it’s nice to see people appreciate it,” she said.

The post got thousands of likes and hundreds of comments praising the “amazing” linen cupboard organisation solution.

“Can you come do mine please,” one person wrote, while another said it was a “literal dream” cupboard.

Pleased as punch with the results, Sarah joked she keeps checking on the cupboard while planning her next organisational project.

“I find myself going in there and turning the light on to have a quick look just to make sure it’s all still the same, it’s so nice,” she said. “We’re onto the pantry now.”
