$99 Kmart homeware find already dubbed ‘buy of the year’

It’s no secret that homeware enthusiasts love Kmart, but a new accent chair from the budget retailer has sent shoppers into a frenzy like never before, with some already declaring it “the best purchase of the year”.
The $99 Marlo Lounge Chair is said to be a dupe of a $949 item, and looks just as expensive and luxurious.
Recently, TikTok user @hellojessicamary shared a video where she styled Kmart’s new chair in her home.
She snagged two of them and set them up side-by-side in her living room, creating a cozy space alongside her couch, a textured rug and a boucle ottoman.
“The best $198 I’ve ever spent though, Kmart Australia’s new Marlo lounge chair absolutely slaying,” she wrote in the caption.
She added in the comments that they are sturdy, comfortable and despite the cushions being detachable, they don’t slide off easily, as some commenters assumed.
The chairs come flat-packed and include a black frame and the option of either white or beige cushions.
“The Marlo Lounge Chair blends a sleek profile with practical features, making it a stylish addition to any living space,” the Kmart website read.
“This chair will be perfect for your home or office. It is built with a steel frame, making it ideal for everyday use,” it added.
It appears to be a dupe of Temple & Webster’s Lowen Sling Accent Chair, which retails for $949 but is currently on sale for $50 cheaper.
Shoppers were excited, with one saying they were “obsessed” with how they looked and others admitting they had been waiting for their store to get stock after hearing whispers of the must-buy item.
“I have been wanting these for two weeks, hoping they arrive at my store soon,” someone wrote.
“They still haven’t come to my store. I really hope they get in stock soon,” shared a different viewer.
“I have been checking online for these. I really hope I don’t miss out,” another shopper revealed.
“Kmart just keeps getting better and better,” said one, while others said, “Running to Kmart” and “I need.”
Then some shoppers in New Zealand expressed their frustration at stock never coming to their stores.
“I see Kmart releasing so many beautiful items, but none of them come to New Zealand,” one responded.
“If only New Zealand had the good stuff too,” another chimed in.
Some people believed the chairs could be used outdoors, but the Kmart website clearly states that they are intended for indoor use only.
