Gwyneth Paltrow’s now sold-out scented candle that “smells like vagina” is being slammed online for being a bridge too far.

She’s no stranger to the weird and wonderful world of bizarre wellness products.

Most famously, Gwyneth Paltrow is known for touting the benefits of a vaginal steam, a treatment designed to clean your nether regions with a blend of fancy herbs.

Now the Goop founder and actress is causing a new sensation, this time fpr a candle featuring a rather unusual name This Smells Like My Vagina.

The This Smells Like My Vagina candle is described as being “funny, gorgeous, sexy, and beautifully unexpected”.

The luxury item was on sale on her website for a cool $88, however, it has since sold out and there’s a now lengthy waiting list.

The 47-year-old gave fans an explanation as to how the candle was created in the product description, saying discovering the scent was something of a happy accident.

The Goop website explains: “This candle started as a joke between perfumer Douglas Little and GP — the two were working on a fragrance, and she blurted out, ‘Uhhh. this smells like a vagina’ — but evolved into a funny, gorgeous, sexy, and beautifully unexpected scent.

“That turned out to be perfect as a candle — we did a test run at an In goop Health, and it sold out within hours.

The website states the scent is “a blend of geranium, citrusy bergamot, and cedar absolutes juxtaposed with Damask rose and ambrette seed that puts us in mind of fantasy, seduction, and a sophisticated warmth”.

Although the candle is designed as an up-market homewares item, it hasn’t escaped criticism from those who are horrified at the price – and the “unusual” concept.

“Gwyneth is one very weird lady – I’d say she’s fixated with features down south, in a severely twisted way,” one person said.

While another added: “I think the real lesson we should take away from this is that Gwynnie thinks it’s normal for a candle to cost $US75.”

“If she hadn’t already done it I am quite sure now that Gwynnie has jumped the shark. Big time,” said a third.

The actress founded the “lifestyle brand” Goop in 2008 and has since made worldwide headlines on several occasions with her bizarre offerings.

In 2017, Goop claimed “jade eggs” for sale on its website provided a cure for a flagging libido and unbalanced hormones.

A lawsuit was brought against the company in 2018 after it was revealed the benefits of the eggs, which are inserted into the vagina, weren’t backed by science.

Goop was ordered to pay $US145,000 in civil penalties.
