Bunnings will let you return dead plants with ‘Perfect Plant Promise’

If you have bought a specific kind of product from Bunnings and it has “died”, then you can return it and get your money back.

Mum transforms $2.50 Bunnings matts into pot holders

It’s hard keeping plants alive – some people have a real knack for it and know exactly what to do, while others, despite having the right intentions, fail miserably.

If you’re one of these people, then you’re in luck.

In fact, according to Plant Life Balance 2020 trend report, Aussies have managed to kill at least 72 million plants in the past year.

Part of the reason is because more than 40 per cent of people struggle to know when to water their plants.

But after Bunnings noticed a bunch of its customers struggling to keep its green products alive, it decided to create a policy allowing shoppers to return their dead plant(s), for a refund or replacement.

The hardware store’s ‘Perfect Plant Promise’ is available on all plants, except for seedlings, and can only be returned within 12 months of purchasing it.

In other words, if your Bunnings-bought peace lily dies within its first year of life with you – you can get your money back or exchange it for another.

“All our plants (except seedlings) are guaranteed for 12 months. If you’re not 100 per cent happy, return your plant (with receipt) and we’ll refund it,” it states on its website.

The policy doesn’t apply to flower and vegetable seedlings as well as potted colours (bloomers), which are short-lived plants that are not expected to live for more than three to five months.

To take advantage of the policy, you will need to take your plant and receipt to your local Bunnings store.

It will then be examined by a Bunnings garden professional who will determine if your plant is eligible for a refund or replacement on a case-by-case basis.

If it all sounds too difficult, you can always opt for artificial plants – after all, you can’t kill them, they’re affordable and require minimal effort.

Just don’t do what this mum did and water it for two years.
