Big W and Kmart reveal Black Friday deals

Black Friday is just a week away and Australian stores are teasing bargain hunters with big deals like this cut-price Dyson vacuum.

The etiquette of queueing

You might want to give your bank manager a quick call, as chances are you’ll be spending big next weekend.

November 29, Black Friday, is the biggest sale event of the year, where retailers offer huge discounts to shoppers in the run-up to Christmas. It’s so popular people have been known to line up outside stores and fight it out for goodies. It also spawned a follow-up event the Monday after known as Cyber Monday.

While it began in the US, occurring the day after Thanksgiving, which is celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November, Black Friday is now a fully fledged global event with heaps of Australian stores getting in on the madness.

And Big W is one of the first to release details of its offers, temporarily slashing $250 off the price of a Dyson V7 Origin and selling it for $349.

It’s one of three offers the budget retailer is teasing shoppers with in the build-up to the crazy shopping event.

As well as the cut-price vacuum cleaner, shoppers can nab a PS4 500GB Slim Console Fortnite Bundle for $249 or cash in on a buy-one-get-one-free deal on Google Nest Hubs for $199.

Big W isn’t the only homewares brand involved in the special sale, with Kmart dropping details of the “top 10” items from its sale of nearly 100 products.

However, the popular discount department store won’t be cutting the prices on these items, instead offering a limited-edition run of products that will only be in store for the duration of the Black Friday event.

Kmart general merchandise general manager Callum Smith said the line-up was expected to fly off shelves. Once sold, it won’t be restocked.

The range includes a rattan egg chair with stand for $179, a portable gas barbecue for $99, and an inflatable 2.7-metre stand-up paddleboard set for $249.
