Aldi Special Buys: $90 ‘insomnia cure’ set to hit supermarket shelves

Aussies are going wild for a revolutionary “sleeping solution” - and now Aldi is offering the miracle item for just $90.

An unconventional sleeping cure in the form of a weighted blanket is proving a hit for helping sleepless Aussies get a full eight hours rest.

And now Aldi is set to sell the much-talked-about item as part of its upcoming “Sweet Dreams” Special Buys range on sale January 22.

Aldi’s version of the “therapy” blanket is on offer to shoppers for an affordable $90 – and it is available in two weights, depending on body size.

The blankets – hailed a game changer by those who’ve tried them – are on sale at other Australian outlets for up to $279.

The difference between regular blankets and weighted blankets is the latter comes filled with small objects.

These can include pellets, discs or beads of polypropylene plastic or glass. Aldi’s weighted blanket is filled with glass beads.

It is understood the weight, also known as the “hug effect”, helps with restlessness by lowering the heart rate as well as increasing levels of serotonin and dopamine.

“(The blanket) uses deep touch pressure to stimulate pressure points on the body to create a feeling of being hugged. This can help calm anxiety, improve mood and sleep quality,” reads product information about the blankets.

The item, which measures 1.22m x 1.98m, is available in a 6.8kg weight for those weighing between 55 and 80kg, or 9kg size for body weights of 80kg or more.

The stunning collection, perfect for a bedroom update, also features a range of pillows, pillowcases and sleep masks.

In addition to the blanket, the retailer is offering pillowcases either infused with copper, which helps stop the spread of microbes, or pure mulberry silk, ideal for dealing with hair frizz.

The single set, priced at $39.99, also includes an eye mask.

A special selection of memory foam pillows, priced at $39.99, has also been included as part of the discount.

These come in a range of styles from charcoal enhanced for freshness, one that includes a cooling gel for those suffering during hot nights, and one infused with lavender.

Aldi’s weighted blanket and other accessories will be available in stores from January 22
