Sex toy company parks truck with raunchy message next to Bondi’s busy covid testing clinic

The cheeky positioning of a sex toy company’s advertising truck has raised eyebrows among members of the public in Bondi.

Sydney COVID lockdown extended until at least July 16

An Australian brand has pulled off the ultimate publicity stunt, parking a large truck next to one of the Sydney’s biggest covid testing clinics with a cheeky message on full display.

Four-month-old sex toy business Normal has been parking its truck next to the St Vincent’s Hospital pop-up testing clinic at Bondi Beach – a prime location for both visitors and photographers.

The truck has featured in an array of social media posts thanks to a raunchy slogan written across its side.

“Bondi, improve your lockdown,” it reads, directing people to use the discount code, “cum on Bondi”.

The code, which promises shoppers 50 per cent off all items on the website, has caused a 1000 per cent increase in sales, founder Lucy Wark told news.com.au.

“We immediately sold out of the toy on the truck … and we’ve seen a similar pattern repeating today as well,” she said.

“Particularly during periods of lockdown, often people are looking for something they can do at home that will help them feel better.”

The sneaky positioning of the truck was the result of the brand’s crafty-minded marketing team, who were well versed on how often the particular spot was photographed, Ms Wark said.

“We thought it would be a fun way to reach a lot of people and give them something to smile about, and a way to practice some self care in lockdown.”

“Lockdown for a lot of people can be a pretty difficult time and very lonely, and we were conscious that we wanted to do something that could hopefully bring smiles to people’s faces.”

While the truck itself was being constantly shifted to new spots, Ms Wark said the discount code would remain active for the duration of the extended lockdown in Greater Sydney.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced on Wednesday the stay-at-home rules that were to have ended this weekend would be extended until July 16.
