A Sunshine Coast nursing home is in lockdown as three residents await COVID-19 test results.

Immanuel Gardens Aged Care and Retirement Village at Buderim went into lockdown on Monday morning after residents, who live in the Terrace, began experiencing respiratory symptoms.

They were all tested for COVID-19 and results are expected by Wednesday.

According to the Sunshine Coast Daily, residents were all isolated and will remain under close monitoring and “full care” until results return as a precaution, in line with the public health direction.

Residents are said to be remaining in close contact with family members throughout the lockdown.

It comes as Queensland recorded no new COVID-19 cases on Monday morning, despite police turning away more than 600 people at the state’s border.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said on Monday it had been 16 days since the last known case of the virus was out in the community.

Chief health officer Dr Jeannette Young said that it was all the more reason to keep Queensland closed from other states with massive outbreaks.

“We have to be even more careful with anyone coming into Queensland from a hot spot,” Dr Young said.

Ms Palaszczuk hinted that the state could remain closed “until Christmas”.

More to come.
