Model rejects Kyle & Jackie O offer, labels show ‘problematic’

Former Victoria’s Secret model Bridget Malcolm has shut down a request to appear with Kyle Sandilands, detailing their shock last encounter.

A former Victoria’s Secret model has slammed Kyle Sandilands for grilling her about nudity backstage on-air, labelling his behaviour “problematic”.

Bridget Malcolm, originally from West Fremantle, walked the runway as an “angel” for the lingerie brand in 2015 and 2016 and appeared on the KIIS FM show where she was interviewed by the shock jock and his co-host Jackie O.

Recently, the 29-year-old has been speaking out about the toxic fashion industry and its effect on mental health in a series of TikTok videos – even sharing details of sexual harassment she experienced during her time as a model.

Her candid videos have gained a lot of attention, prompting a radio producer to invite her back onto the show.

However the invitation wasn’t welcomed, with Malcolm labelling it “patronising” and calling on Sandilands to “do better”.

“Last time that I did a Kyle & Jackie O Show I was about 25 and I’d just done the Victoria’s Secret Show,” she explains in her video.

“I thought I was going to be discussing the Victoria’s Secret Show and all that exciting stuff. And I get there, and Kyle – charming fellow that he is – asks me if I watched Kendall Jenner get naked and change backstage.”

As a result, Malcolm said she had no intention of reappearing on a show “given the extreme lack of respect this statement shows towards women”.

She then finished the video by personally addressing Sandilands, saying, “Do better Kyle.”

On Instagram, Malcolm described the invitation as “belittling” and “patronising” in her video caption.

“Why on earth would I come on their PrObLeMaTiC show to discuss my sexual assault and trauma?! Ew,” she wrote.

Many have been quick to commend the model, who now lives in the US, labelling the rejection “great”.

“I love your page and how you just expose all the misogyny surrounding models and the modelling industry,” one wrote.

“Well done Bridget,” another said.

“Good work,” someone else agreed as others said, “Good on you.”

Malcolm recently shared a “heartbreaking” truth about the bra she wore during the now axed runway show – revealing the “tiny” 30A (8A) undergarment was actually “big” on her.

“I found my bra from the 2016 Victoria’s Secret fashion show,” she said. “It is a size 30A (8A), I am now a size 34B (12B) which is healthy for me.”

She then shared photos of her from the 2016 show wearing it.

“Look how big it was on me, the sadness behind my eyes from the 2016 show breaks my heart,” she said.

Malcolm claimed in the video, shared in June, she was later “rejected” from the 2017 Victoria’s Secret Show and told “my body did not look good enough”.

She was an 8B bra size at the time.
