Childcare centre added to growing WA coronavirus venues list after state records local case on first day of lockdown
A kindergarten has been added to Western Australia’s alerts list after the state recorded a new local coronavirus case on its first day of lockdown.
A kindergarten has been added to the growing list of venues of concern in Western Australia after the state recorded another new local case of coronavirus.
Family-owned business Landsdale Early Learning and Enrichment Childcare was added to the list on Sunday, with health authorities providing four dates when anyone who went there may have been exposed to COVID-19.
Affected families have been contacted and ordered to get a test immediately then spend 14 days in home quarantine, regardless of their test result.
Also, the instructions have changed for anyone who went to ThaiThymes restaurant within Lakeside Joondalup Shopping Centre on Thursday night.
Instead of getting a test immediately and isolating until a negative result is received, patrons of the restaurant must get tested and complete the full 14 days of self-quarantine regardless of their test result.
A Woolworths supermarket and Caltex Woolworths petrol station has also been added.
The update came after a man in his 40s contracted the virus at the Kitchen Inn in Kardinya – where the Victorian man whose positive result plunged the Perth and Peel region into a snap three-day lockdown dined last weekend.
Authorities believe the Victorian man unwittingly contracted the virus while in quarantine at the Mercure Hotel in the Perth CBD, where he stayed in a room opposite an ill couple who had arrived from India, before spending five days in the community.
There, he infected a female dental clinic employee – Western Australia’s first case of local transmission in more than a year.
The Victorian man had stayed at the woman’s Kardinya home for one night before moving to Saint Catherine’s College at the University of Western Australia.
The woman’s workplace, DB Dental on Canning Highway in Applecross, has been added to the list of public exposure sites visited by the pair since he was released from quarantine on April 17.
The woman, aged in her 40s, unwittingly worked at the clinic from 8am to 6pm on Thursday while infectious.
Her two children have so far tested negative for the virus.
