Victoria has recorded 70 new coronavirus cases overnight.
The Department of Health also confirmed five more deaths, a welcome drop after the state’s worst day for recorded deaths on Monday, where 41 were reported.
But Premier Daniel Andrews revealed that was due to a backlog, where 33 deaths had instead occurred prior to Sunday, and eight people died on Monday.
Victorian parliament is expected to vote on the Premier’s controversial bill to extend Victoria’s state of emergency by another 12 months today.
While Melburnians were told to wait until September 6 to hear about details of a road map out of stage four restrictions.
Daniel Andrews will front the media later today.
