The Bachelor’s Snezana Wood’s heartfelt post about Sam Wood after premature birth
The Bachelor star Snezana Wood has opened up about a life-threatening condition that sent her to ICU as her baby stayed in hospital for three weeks.
Snezana Wood has revealed the “stressful and scary” truth behind a series of sweet photos of her Bachelor star husband Sam Wood holding their newborn baby at eight days old.
She gave birth to the couple’s third daughter Harper Jones at the start of May, but their baby girl was born a month early and the little one remained in hospital until this weekend.
In an Instagram post, she said Harper was taken to special care nursery while she was rushed to another hospital and placed in ICU with life-threatening sepsis.
The 41-year-old said she couldn’t imagine how stressful and scary it would have been for Sam to see both of them really sick.
But she praised her husband for keeping his cool, staying calm and “not letting me see you worry”.
“Our little Harper had an infection and mama here sepsis but you never told me or showed me how serious it was or how worried you were,” she wrote.
“You stayed calm which kept me calm. I asked you to stay with Harper till she was ok, and you did, then you came across to the hospital I was taken to to make sure I was ok, then back again to Harper and so on. It was a lot!”
Snezana said that less than an hour prior to the pair being rushed off, the three of them were together “bursting with love and joy” and were also shocked and giggling at how quickly Harper came into the world, before things “quickly changed for the worst”.
The 41-year-old also updated fans this week on Harper, revealing that she was doing much better.
“Our precious little Harper. Three weeks – no monitors and no feeding tubes,” the happy mum wrote.
She had previously said that not being able to bring Harper home had broken her heart a thousand times a day.
“But then I remember she’s in the best place with incredible doctors and nurses caring for her around the clock,” she said.
“She’s doing so well now. I know she’ll be home soon enough and her three big sisters will finally be able to meet her but till then it’s back and forth to the hospital a number of times a day whilst trying to keep it together.”
On Saturday, after three weeks in hospital and ICU, the couple were finally able to take their baby girl home.
“Home time Harper. 24 days and it’s finally time to come home,” Sam captioned a series of photos of the trio reunited.
Earlier this month, Sam announced the birth of his third child on Instagram but said that Snezana and Harper were both struck down by an infection and were forced to separate for five days.
“After finding an infection that both Snez and Harper had picked up and some incredible care from the nurses and doctors they were reunited yesterday and both doing well. Swipe across to see the video of being reunited. Dad crying, oh it was soooo beautiful,” he said at the time.
He gushed about his wife too, adding “you really are the strongest and most beautiful person I know and like you, thank god the force is strong in little Harper”.
Snezana shares daughters Charlie, two, and Willow, three, with her husband of four years and is also mum to 16-year-old Eve from a previous marriage.
Star of season three of The Bachelor, Sam met Snezana in 2015 and the pair were engaged just six months later.
They wed in a lavish Byron Bay ceremony in 2018.
It’s been a big month for the reality TV star as Sam also sold his online diet and fitness program to a Melbourne DNA testing company for a whopping $71 million.
