NSW virus hot spot areas to avoid named

Health authorities have named virus hot spots in NSW, with outsiders urged to avoid them this weekend and self-quarantine if it’s already too late.

Easter long weekend: can I still go on holiday?

Queensland health authorities have named 13 COVID-19 hotspots in NSW, urging people to avoid them this long weekend.

Queenslanders are now required to self-quarantine for 14-days if they have travelled to one of these hotspots in NSW.

The direction applies from 12.01 am today until the end of the declared public health emergency, unless it is revoked or replaced.

These are the most affected areas:

Blacktown

Canterbury-Bankstown

Central Coast

Cumberland

Inner West

Ku-ring-gai

Northern Beaches

Randwick

Ryde

Sutherland Shire

Sydney

Waverley

Woollahra

It comes after Health Minister Steven Miles urged Queenslanders not to travel this Easter long weekend, telling them to check the hotspot areas if it’s absolutely essential.

“I would urge you to check the areas but more importantly, I would urge you not to travel in the first place,” Mr Miles said at a press conference.

There are currently 2822 cases of COVID-19 in NSW, accounting for more than a third of the national total.
