NSW COVID hot spots: Full list of venue alerts

Health authorities have added new venues across NSW as potential hot spots, including a Sydney bottle shop and Bunnings store.

Sydney’s COVID-19 outbreak continues to spread with a Sydney bottle shop and Bunnings store added to the latest venue alerts.

Cases of the virus have been confirmed at a number of new venues by NSW Health late on Thursday.

Anyone who attended the following venues at the listed times must get tested immediately and self-

isolate until they receive further advice from NSW Health:

Wollongong: The Swallowed Anchor, 156/160 Crown St, Saturday 19 December, all day

Anyone who visited any of the following venues at the listed times is considered a casual contact

who must get tested immediately and isolate until a negative result is received:

Berala: BWS Berala 15-16 Woodburn Rd. At Thursday 24 December, 4:45pm-9:06pm; Saturday 26 December, 9:55am-7:04pm; Monday 28 December, 12:44pm-7:15pm.

Berala: Pure Thai Berala, 160 Woodburn Rd, Saturday 26 December, 2pm-4pm; Monday 28 December, 2pm-4pm

Anyone who visited any of the following venues at the listed times should monitor for symptoms and

if they occur get tested immediately and self-isolate until you receive a negative result:

Smithfield: Bunnings Smithfield Cnr Cumberland Highway & Sturt St. Tuesday 29 December, 1:15pm-1:35pm

Smithfield: TFO, Tile Factory Outlet, 107 Warren Rd. Tuesday 29 December 1:30pm-3:30pm

A Bunnings store in Smithfield has been added to the NSW venue alert list.

Earlier, alerts were issued about a fish market, pizza ship and the Liverpool Westfield.

Six venues were confirmed by health officials to have had a positive COVID-19 case visit on Thursday afternoon, with Shellharbour Myer Stockland raising alarms given it is almost 110km from Sydney’s CBD.

In western Sydney, the following venues were named:

CHULLORA: Chullora Fish Market, Shop 6A, 355-357 Waterloo Rd, Chullora, Wednesday December 23, 6.40am – 7.10am

LIVERPOOL: Liverpool Westfield, Macquarie Street, Liverpool, Wednesday December 23, 1pm – 3pm

BELFIELD: Mancini’s Pizza, 21 Burwood Road, Thursday, December 24, 7pm – 7.15pm

GREENACRE: 7 Eleven, 301-305 Hume Highway, Saturday December 26, 4.30pm – 5pm

In the Wollongong area, which recorded a positive case on Monday, the following venues were named:

SHELLHARBOUR: Myer Stockland, 211 Lake Entrance Road, Sunday, December 27, 12pm – 12.40pm

FIGTREE: Coles, Figtree Grove Shopping Centre, 19 Princes Highway, Monday, December 28, 4.45pm – 5.20pm

Anyone who visited any of the above venues at the listed times should monitor for symptoms and if they occur get tested immediately and self-isolate until they receive a negative result.

Earlier on Thursday, NSW chief health officer Dr Kerry Chant issued a fresh plea for residents in Sydney’s inner west to undergo COVID-19 testing due to members of the Croydon cluster who had been “out and about” while infectious.

Dr Chant on Thursday said there had been 10 new cases in Sydney during the past 24 hours, three of which were linked to the new Croydon outbreak which has at least 34 close contacts.

“The Croydon cluster cases, we know were out and about while infectious unknowingly and that’s why it’s important that the community respond to our warnings around those sites and venues and the general warnings around getting tested,” Dr Chant told media on Thursday.

Dr Chant said low testing rates in the inner west needed to improve.

“The Croydon cluster has raised that spectrum, but if we start seeing cases where we don‘t know the source of them, and particularly in the presence of low rates of community testing, that really elevates our risk threshold and it means that we will be having to take even more precautionary action,” she said.

“The sooner we can find any missed cases in the community, the quicker we can close down those chains of transmission.”

On Wednesday night, the health department released potential exposure sites. Anyone who attended the following venues must get tested and isolate until they receive further advice from NSW Health.

BARDWELL PARK: Earlwood Bardwell Park RSL, 18 Hartill-Law Ave, December 28, 6pm-11.30pm.

Anyone who visited any of the following venues is considered a casual contact who must get tested and isolate until a negative result is received.

RHODES: Priceline, Shop MM1, Rhodes Waterside, 1 Rider Boulevard, Rhodes 2138, December 24, 9am-12pm.

BASS HILL: BWS, Bass Hill Plaza, 753 Hume Highway, December 24, 1.10pm-1.30pm.

A Bunnings and a Costco are also among new businesses on high alert. Anyone who visited the following venues should monitor their symptoms.

CROYDON PARK: Martin Reserve, Seymour St, December 27, 12pm-12.40pm.

LIDCOMBE: Costco, 17-21 Parramatta Rd, December 24, 10am-10.20am and 4.20pm-4.45pm.

LIDCOMBE: Bunnings, 23-29 Parramatta Rd, December 24, 4pm-4.20pm.

AUBURN: BCF (Boating Fishing Camping) Cnr Parramatta Rd and Rawson St, December 23, 10.15am-10.45am.

All new alerts come after a staff member at a NSW pharmacy has tested positive for COVID-19, prompting concerns of a cluster forming in the Blue Mountains area.

In a social media post, the Greenwell and Thomas Pharmacy Katoomba said a staff member who was working on December 26 and 27 had tested positive.

“The Department to Health has requested they be tested for COVID-19 and to isolate until they have a negative result,” the pharmacy said.

“The pharmacy has been deep cleaned and we have been advised by the Department of Health that we are able to open.”

A spate of hot spot venues were also revealed on Wednesday after the Croydon cluster became known. Anyone who visited any of these venues at the times listed is considered a close contact and must get tested immediately and isolate for 14 days, regardless of the result.

A case in Wollongong was also revealed earlier in the week after a woman in her 50s tested positive after visiting Sydney. Her household contact, another woman in her 20s, has also returned a positive swab.

Anyone who attended St Nektarios Greek Orthodox Church, 39 Atchison Street, Wollongong, on Sunday, December 27 between 9am and 10.15am is a close contact and must get tested and isolate for 14 days, regardless of the result.

People who attended the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church, 18 Stewart St, Wollongong, on Sunday, December 27 between 10.30am and 11am is deemed a casual contact who must get tested and isolate until a negative result is received.

Health authorities said the advice replaces previous advice given for the two churches.
