Hundreds of Adelaide residents ordered into home isolation as Parafield cluster grows

Hundreds of Adelaide residents have been told to go home and remain there for 14 days as the Parafield cluster worsens.

South Australia imposes 'six day freeze' to curb coronavirus cases

Hundreds of Adelaide residents have been ordered into self-isolation immediately as the city races to squash the growing Parafield cluster.

It comes as the city braces for a six-day lockdown, which will see schools, pubs, cafes and workplaces close, and weddings, funerals and outdoor sport banned after the state recorded two new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday.

South Australian Premier Steven Marshall said the state needed to “go hard and go early” to stop further spread.

People who visited the below business and schools at the specified times are required to “travel by the most direct and practical route” to their place of accomodation immediately and stay there for 14 days, starting from the last day they attended the location:

  • Roma Mitchell Secondary College, Gepps Cross: November 12-13
  • Thomas More College, Salisbury Downs: November 12-13
  • Mawson Lakes Primary School: November 13
  • Elizabeth Aquadome, Elizabeth: November 14, 11am-1.30pm
  • Peppers Waymouth Hotel, Adelaide: October 31-November 15
  • Woodville Pizza Bar, Woodville South: Anytime between November 6 until November 16 including people who received a delivery.

The direction also applies to any household members of those who have attended any of the above locations.

Chief health officer Professor Nicola Spurrier said health authorities had traced the chains of transmission down to the fourth generation, but the fifth was “out there in our community”. She said the Woodville Pizza Bar was her biggest concern.

More than 4000 people are already understood in isolation.

SA Health has said people impacted are required to remain isolated for at least 14 days, and submit to a COVID-19 test on day 1 and 12.

“If the person received a negative COVID-19 test result they must complete the specified 14-day self-quarantine period and continue to remain segregated for other people,” SA Health said in a statement.

Those told to self-isolate cannot leave their designated residential premises unless for medical purposes, to obtain medical care or medical supplies, to receive a COVID-19 test, or in an emergency situation.
