Connie Johnson shares a photo of her final days in hospice
SAMUEL Johnson’s sister Connie, who is “actively dying” after a long battle with breast cancer, has shared pictures of her final days in hospice.
PICTURES of Connie Johnson spending her final days in hospice have been posted on Instagram.
The cancer research fundraiser, mum-of-two and founder of Love Your Sister, has entered hospice care and is “actively dying” after a long battle with breast cancer.
In one of the photos Connie can be seen with a friend and surrounded by colouring-in therapy books.
The photo has been liked more than 4000 times and has been met with a flood of positive comments.
“Beautiful smile as always,” said one supporter.
“I have so much love for you and Connie,” said Instagram user krystalmichelle1211.
“The courage you both continue to show and the empire you both have built is beyond words. Connie and Sam you have truly touched my heart and even though I feel overwhelming sadness I see the fight in both of you and that is inspiring.
“You are both so lucky to have each other and the bond you share. Sending you both so much love, strength and positive vibes.”
In a post shared to the Love Your Sister Facebook page last month, Connie’s brother, Gold Logie winner Samuel Johnson said that Connie was taking a break from social media to come to grips with what is to come.
“Con’s needed a lot of quiet time lately to try and comprehend the total headf**kery that ‘actively dying’ brings,” he wrote.
“She just rang from the Hospice and admitted that this is the most difficult thing she’s ever had to face, but in true Connie style she’s been colouring in to keep the nasty thoughts at bay! She said to tell you that there’s life in the old dog yet.
“She’s as comfortable as can be and is being cared for superbly.”
The response to the post was overwhelming, with supporters around the country expressing their love for Connie and her family.
“Thinking of all of you. The words are so few and so ineffectual — but you are all in my heart,” Rebecca commented on the post.
“Connie, Sam you created the village. You created a community, and that community are all thinking of you. Feel our love,” Susan said.
Among the over 5,000 messages of support were a number of personal stories from people walking their own personal journey of cancer or of supporting a loved one with cancer.
“That view brings back memories and tears to my eyes, 365 days ago today at just about this time too, my nan closed her eyes and took her final breath in this world. Sending love to all those who are fighting the sh**ty c word. Xxx,” Nikki wrote.
“Beautiful view. My brother is terminal too. Difficult times. Xoxo,” Sandra commented.
Samuel personally responded to many of these comments expressing his own message of love.
Many people offered up their heartfelt thanks to Connie for dedicating so much of herself to the hunt for a cure.
“You’re amazing Con! Thank you so much for being so selfless and spending so much of your precious time raising funds for research, you’ve made a difference gorgeous girl,” Michelle said.
“Connie, you have raised awareness and grown a village that will support you during the hardest walk that you both are travelling,” Christine wrote.
