Coles recalls popular beauty product for bacterial contamination
Coles has told customers “do not use” a product sold in its stores over fears of bacterial contamination that could cause infection or illness.
Coles has recalled two body wash products over fears they could have been contaminated with bacteria.
Beach Rd Natural’s In-Shower Body Conditioner has been recalled due to a Pluralibacter gergoviae contamination in affected batches, with fears the contamination could get better over time.
“Other bacteria may be introduced with further conditioner use, due to insufficient preservative within the product,” Product Safety Australia said.
“Conditioner products contaminated with Pluralibacter gergoviae and other bacteria can cause infection or illness, especially in people with, weakened immune systems (immunocompromised).
“Consumers must stop using the body conditioner immediately if the product is part of the affected batch and dispose or return to store for a full refund.”
The products were sold in Coles supermarkets right across Australia.
Affected body conditioners are of two variants, “organic rosewater” and “shea & vanilla”.
The “organic rosewater” product has the barcode 9348918003890 while the “shea & vanilla” product’s barcode is 9348918003883.
Customers who bought the conditioner between February 1 and 6 are urged to check the barcode at the back of their product.
