Love Island star reveals she has a parasite in her stomach

Love Island UK star Amy Hart has revealed she has a parasite living in her stomach.

The 29-year-old, who shot to fame on the 2019 series of the popular dating show, took to Instagram to reveal the shocking revelation.

She said she had just been to an appointment with a kinesiologist.

“So it turns out I have a parasite in my, I think my, bladder,” the former Love Island star told her followers.

“She’s said she is going to send me the full breakdown.

“I have high levels of toxic metal and I’m allergic to soy. No more soy sauce. How am I ever going to eat sushi again?

“And the parasite is feeding off of dairy, pork and obviously gelatine. So I can’t have those for six weeks.”

In a subsequent video she clarified she had bacteria in her bladder but the parasite was in her stomach.

Her symptoms included insomnia, chronic fatigue, acid reflux and bloating.

Amy added she was going to struggle to eat at restaurants now but she was fully committed to undergoing natural therapies to remove the parasite.

In Australia, there are many kinds of parasitic infections such as Strongyloides, which is a type of roundworm that can live in your intestines and threadworms.

Many don’t present symptoms but threadworms, the most common parasitic infection Down Under, can cause a variety of symptoms such as extreme itching in the bottom. They are most often caught by ingesting the eggs.

Ways to avoid catching the many variety of worms is always washing your hands, cooking pork and beef thoroughly and always making sure your dogs are de-wormed.

Gold Coast based fitness model Emily Skye, who is always candid regarding her bloating issues, revealed in November 2019 that doctors discovered several parasites lurking in her stomach as well as diagnosing her with Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO).

“It’s a great feeling to know I’m on the right track to getting my gut healthy again. It may take a long time though (could take a year or so) which is hard since I am a bit impatient, especially about my health,” Emily wrote at the time.

She said she’s working on getting rid of the parasites by balancing her good and bad bacteria in her gut.

“Did you know that you can even have too much of a ‘good’ strain of bacteria!” she told her nearly three million followers before explaining she has too much of the Lactobacillus strains – bacteria which produces lactic acid.

Because of that, she has switched her probiotics to one without them. “It’s funny but I’m so in tune with my body that I had a feeling that was the case!” Emily wrote.
