IF YOU love all things ice cream, coffee and chocolate, then feast your eyes on this delicious treat.

That’s right.

“Coffee in a Cone” is so hot right now, with the new craze sweeping South Africa. And Dayne Levinrad - the barista behind this scrumptious invention - claims it’s the world’s most Instagrammed coffee. Nearly one million images using #coffeeinacone, have been liked on the popular photo-sharing site, since launching in January.

And while it looks quite simple to create, there’s actually a lot of science behind it.

Simply pouring coffee into a chocolate-lined wafer cone didn’t work for Levinrad and his team, because “the wafer was too thin”.

“We bought our own machine and started rolling our own wafer cones, using different flours, but the chocolate still melted. We couldn’t have any leakage.”

So to create this heavenly dessert, Levinrad coats the cones with four different types of chocolate mixtures, hardened by changeable amounts of cacao content.

“It’s a very arduous process” Levinrad told CNN.

Time is precious when devouring coffee from a cone, as drinkers have only 10 minutes to finish before the four layers melt. So maybe avoid wearing white when consuming this delicious treat.

Sadly ‘Coffee in a Cone’ is only available in South Africa, but hopefully Levinrad brings his rad invention Down Under!
